The summer of 2002 has an added feature, looking at the chances of each player to make the grade, regardless of the type of degree of talent each player possesses.
In this study, a player with a very specific role, or attribute may actually surpass a player with great God given gifts.
The table to the right shows the Flames prospects rated by their likelihood of appearing in a NHL uniform.
The Flames top two prospects in terms of potential; Jordan Leopold and Chuck Kobasew, both sit at the top of the likelihood table as well - a very good sign for Flames fans. When your top prospects don't have impeding issues, they have a much better chance of reaching their potential.
Eric Nystrom moves up from fifth on the potential list to third on the likelihood list, showing that Flames fans like his chances of donning a Flame uniform.
Blair Betts sits fourth in likelihood, despite his 9th place standing on the potential chart.
Oleg Saprykin tumbles from the third spot in potential down to 7th in likelihood, likely due to his abysmal season in 2001-02.
It's interesting to note the collective fall of many of the Flames recent Russian prospects.
