Game Takes: Devils 4 Flames 2

The Flames sadly flipped their most recent script by doing the opposite in starting well but finishing poorly in a 4-2 afternoon loss at the Saddledome to the New Jersey Devils.

The Flames dominated the first period and had a 1-0 lead after 2o minutes but gave up the next three goals and didn’t have enough to bounce back and find points with a third period push.

The Flames square their homestand at 3-3-0, and now head out on the road for three games in four days starting Monday night.

Need to get on a run soon.

Game Takes: Flames 3 Canes 2

Didn’t see that finish coming.

The Flames seem to be short on skill and unable to mount much of a counter attack through two periods trailing 2-0 to the Carolina Hurricanes.

And then suddenly the Cane’s house of cards cave in and the Flames score three straight third period goals in a 3-2 come from behind victory on Thursday night.

The win gives the Flames a 3-2 edge on their homestand and keeps them within striking distance of a Western Conference playoff spot.

Next up the Devils on Saturday afternoon.

That was ugly.

The Flames completely mailed it in for the first 25 minutes of the game, chasing Dan Vladar and pretty much giving the game away in a 5-2 loss to the Minnesota Wild.

Dustin Wolf came in to mop up much to the delight of the Saddledome crowd, setting up an interesting decision for the Carolina game on Thursday.

For the Flames they drop to two games under .500 and in need of a turnaround forthwith.

Game Takes: Canucks 4 Flames 3

You have to hand it to the Vancouver Canucks, they walked out a pretty solid road game and came away with a 4-3 victory in Calgary on Saturday night.

The Flames, minus Nikita Zadorov, certainly felt the absence as their third pairing was heavily sheltered and got filled in based on metrics.

Calgary loses their first game on this six game homestand and look to get back on the winning side on Tuesday night against the Minnesota Wild.

They sit 9th in the West both in points and win percentage.

Game Takes: Flames 2 Knights 1 (OT)

Well that was a hockey game.

Who says you need high scoring contests to get people out of their seats?

Tonight we got an old fashioned goalie battle with the surprise start Dan Vladar (more on that later) outlasting Calgarian Aidan Hill with a 2-1 overtime victory on the strength of an end to end Mackenzie Weegar winner.

A huge two points for the Flames, as they move into a tie for the final playoff spot, at least in terms of points.
