MISCELLANEOUS
McAmmond was acquired by the Flames from the Philadelphia Flyers in the summer of 2001 in exchange for a fourth round draft pick. McAmmond is the only native of Grand Cache, Alberta to have made the NHL - as a sign entering the town is apparently happy to point out. He played his midget hockey in St. Albert, Alberta before moving up to the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League. He finished his junior career in Swift Current where the Bronco's won the WHL championship. McAmmond has a long history with the Blackhawks with Chicago having drafted him 22nd overall in 1991 then trading him away to Edmonton in 1993 before reacquiring in 1999. The Hawks then sent McAmmond away once again, this time in March 2001 to Philadelphia . He was tossed to the Flames in a draft day deal this past summer.
SCOUTING REPORT

As a former first round pick there is no question that McAmmond has talent, but consistency in his game has confined him to journeyman status for most of his NHL career. His biggest asset is probably his speed but lately an element of tenacity has entered his game which has also helped his scoring stats, particularly this season.
PROJECTION
On a Flames team with virtually no depth on left wing, McAmmond is getting an opportunity to take first line duties, a prize which has eluded him for much of his career. In playing on the first line with Jarome Iginla, McAmmond will get an opportunity to put up points like he never has before.
NOTES
2001 Highlights: McAmmond played to his career stats last year with 11 goals but the highlight might have been his third trip to Chicago and escaping being hopelessly miscast in the rough and tumble Eastern Conference with Philadelphia.
Background: Gold medal with Team Canada at the 1993 Canadian World Junior Championships. Silver Medal with Team Canada at the 1996 World Championships. Played with Team Canada at the 2000 World Championships.
